Your afternoon begins in the Cape Winelands at Fairview Wine & Cheese Estate, where you’re welcomed into its distinctive barrel-shaped tasting “pods.” A dedicated host guides you through a curated flight of six estate wines from crisp, refreshing whites to bold Rhône-style reds, each thoughtfully paired with an artisanal cow- and goat-milk cheese made on site. Between tastings, stroll past the famous Fairview goat tower and explore the farm shop brimming with deli treats, soaking in the relaxed Winelands atmosphere. From Paarl, a scenic drive over the Du Toitskloof Pass unfolds into the rugged beauty of the Breede River Valley, leading to Aquila Private Game Reserve in the Little Karoo. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink and hearty buffet lunch before setting off on a 2–3 hour open 4×4 safari. Expert rangers track Africa’s legendary Big Five: lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and the elusive Cape leopard, alongside giraffe, zebra, and springbok, all framed by ochre mountains and vast skies.
